The hotel, initially constructed in 1970 and later expanded in 1989 and 1992, occupies an expansive coastal area spanning 30 hectares. Inside, the property boasts 32 guest bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, as well as essential amenities such as a reception area, bar, restaurant, kitchen, office space, conference and function rooms, beauty salon, and leisure center featuring a heated pool and gym. Additional facilities include restrooms for guests and staff, staff quarters, and laundry rooms. External features include ample surfaced parking and extensive coastal lands. Adjacent to the hotel are six attached apartments known as ‘Dun Na Mara,’ offering uninterrupted sea views and constructed to a high standard.

Despite its potential, the hotel has been closed since receivers, acting on behalf of banks, put it up for auction nearly four years ago with a reserve price of just €590,000. It’s believed that a lack of tourism in the remote area, combined with insufficient funds for maintaining the dated structure, contributed to the site’s decline.

Despite being closed, the hotel continues to attract interest, particularly following its exposure on social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook. Although security concerns persist, recent visitors have found the building accessible and have enjoyed exploring its interior. Despite signs of deterioration, the space retains a unique charm, with rooms overgrown by lush greenery yet still containing much of their original furniture and items. The scenic location adds to its allure, with breathtaking views available from the resort’s roof. As visitors ascend through the floors, the degree of decay lessens, resulting in a captivating exploration experience, particularly on a warm summer’s day.
